Terms & Pattern Licence

1. About these terms

"I", "me" and "Driftwood Cottage Designs" mean Kathy Vasic, trading as Driftwood Cottage Designs, based in New South Wales, Australia. "You" means the person buying from or using this website. These terms cover the website, digital patterns, the Learn to Crochet Kit and membership, finished pieces, and workshop bookings. My Privacy Policy and Shipping & Returns page form part of these terms.

2. Orders, prices and payment

• All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD). If your bank or PayPal converts the amount to another currency, their exchange rate and fees apply.
• Payment is taken at checkout through PayPal or Square. I don't see or store your card details.
• An order is accepted when you receive the order confirmation email. I can decline or cancel an order if a product is unavailable, if there's an obvious pricing error, or if payment can't be verified; you'll be refunded in full in that case.
• Prices and products may change without notice, but changes won't affect an order already confirmed.

3. Digital patterns and downloads

• Patterns are delivered as PDF downloads. A download link is emailed to you and, if you have an account, kept in My Account → Downloads so you can download again later.
• Download links are for your use only. Please keep a copy of the file somewhere safe.
• Patterns are written in US crochet terms unless the product page says otherwise. Skill level, yarn and hook requirements are listed on each product page; please check them before buying.
• If a file won't open, is corrupted or isn't what you ordered, email me and I'll replace it or refund you.

4. Pattern licence

You may

• make as many items from the pattern as you like, for yourself or as gifts;
• sell finished items you make from the pattern, in small quantities as a maker, provided you credit "Driftwood Cottage Designs" as the designer in your listing or label;
• print one copy for your own use and keep digital copies on your own devices;
• share photos of your finished projects on social media (tagging me is lovely, not required).

You may not

• copy, share, email, upload, resell or give away the pattern file or its text, charts or photos, in whole or in part;
• translate, adapt or republish the pattern, or claim the design as your own;
• use the pattern to teach a paid class or workshop without my written permission;
• mass-produce items from the pattern, or use the pattern photos to sell your items.

Sharing a pattern file, even with a friend, breaches this licence and Australian copyright law. If you'd like a pattern for a group, guild or class, please email me; I'm happy to arrange group pricing.

5. Learn to Crochet Kit and membership

• Buying the Learn to Crochet Kit or the digital membership gives you access to the members area – video lessons, tutorials and bonus downloads – on this website.
• Access is a one-time purchase with no recurring fee, and continues for as long as the members area is offered. I'll give reasonable notice on the website if it's ever going to close.
• Access is personal to you. Please don't share your login or download members-only content for others.
• Videos and lessons may be added, updated or replaced over time. Content is for personal learning only and is covered by the same copyright rules as patterns.
• The physical kit contents are described on the product page and may vary slightly (for example yarn colour) depending on availability.

6. Workshops

• Workshop places are confirmed when payment is received. Places are limited and sold in order of booking.
• Dates, times, location (or online link) and what to bring are shown on the workshop page and in your confirmation email.
• If you can't attend: let me know at least 7 days before the workshop for a full refund or transfer to another date. Within 7 days, you're welcome to send someone in your place; otherwise the fee is non-refundable, because materials and venue are already committed.
• If I have to cancel (illness, venue issues, not enough bookings) you'll get a full refund or a transfer, your choice.
• Online workshops are delivered via Zoom or similar; a working internet connection, camera and microphone are your responsibility.

7. Kits, finished pieces and shipping

• Physical items are posted from New South Wales, Australia. Shipping options, costs and estimated delivery times are shown at checkout and on the Shipping & Returns page.
• Finished pieces are handmade and usually one of a kind. Small variations in colour and texture are part of their character, and colours may look slightly different on screen.
• Please check your delivery address carefully. If a parcel is returned because the address was incomplete, re-shipping costs are payable before it's sent again.
• Risk in the goods passes to you when the parcel is delivered to your address.

8. Refunds and returns

Under Australian Consumer Law you're entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If goods aren't of acceptable quality, aren't as described or don't do what they should, I'll repair, replace or refund them.

• Digital patterns and membership: because a download can't be returned, change-of-mind refunds aren't offered once the file has been downloaded or the members area accessed. Faulty or wrong files are always replaced or refunded.
• Kits and finished pieces: change-of-mind returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery if the item is unused and in its original condition; return postage is at your cost. Faulty or damaged-in-transit items are replaced or refunded, including postage.
• Workshops: see section 6.

To start a return or refund, email driftwoodcottagedesigns@outlook.com with your order number. Refunds go back to the original payment method.

9. Your account

• You're responsible for keeping your login details private and for any activity under your account.
• Please give accurate details and keep them up to date so your orders and downloads reach you.
• I may suspend or close an account that's used to share patterns or members-only content, or that breaches these terms. Refunds aren't given in that case.
• You can ask me to delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

10. Website content and copyright

All designs, patterns, photographs, videos, text and the Driftwood Cottage Designs name and logo are owned by Kathy Vasic (or used with permission) and protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may view and print pages for personal use, but you may not reproduce, distribute or use them commercially without written permission. Yarn and product names belong to their respective owners.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, my liability for any other loss is limited to the price you paid for the product or workshop concerned. I'm not liable for loss caused by things outside my reasonable control, such as postal delays, internet outages or the availability of third-party services (PayPal, Square, YouTube or Vimeo). Crochet is a craft; please use hooks, scissors and other tools safely.

12. Governing law, changes and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and any dispute will be handled by the courts there, without affecting your consumer rights in your own country. I may update these terms from time to time; the version on the website when you place an order is the one that applies to that order.
